How to have a floral baby shower for a boy!

This past weekend my best friend/sister-in-law, Diane, threw the sweetest, most beautiful baby shower for me. I wasn’t into the shower themes I often see for boys, and wanted something a little bit different. I am pregnant during the spring time, and have had a floral theme throughout my pregnancy anyway; from my pregnancy announcement to my recent maternity pictures (seen below). It just seemed right to tie in the floral aesthetic into the shower. Plus, the shower was so me! I just don’t believe that boy moms have to be stuck with the sports, jungle, fishing, and hunting themes. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of cute boy shower themes, but boy moms can have floral showers or sprinkles too!

Technically, it was a “sprinkle,” as opposed to a shower per se, because this is my second baby, and my second boy at that. Since I’ve done this before, there aren’t too many things that I need. Also, while I was expecting Holden, I had four, yes, FOUR baby showers. One with my friends and family, one thrown by Nathan’s side of the family, one thrown by my co-workers, and one thrown by my church family. It was my first baby and the first grand child on both sides, so a big deal was made, but I have said it before, and I’ll say it again I support baby showers for non-first born babies, and am happy to attend, with a gift, to show that momma that I love and support her. This time I knew I didn’t need much, and I wanted it to be much smaller and more intimate, so we only invited my closest family and friends. I let Diane take care of all the rest.

The first thing she did was pick out invitations to match the theme I had settled on, and they’re too adorable!

We also decided it would be a brunch complete with fruit, danishes, a donut cake, “mom-mosas,” and my all time favorite, chicken and waffles.

The decorations all came together so well between the pink and blue hydrangeas, vines, and the 3-D butterflies; it felt and looked like a garden in bloom, which is exactly the theme of the shower! Diane not only had flowers everywhere, but had favors complete with seeds for everyone to take home and plant. Since I did not throw the shower, I don’t have links for the decor, but if I know Diane well enough, I’m sure you can find everything on Amazon or Etsy.

As for me, I wanted a bohemian style dress that was flowy and unique to other maternity clothes that I wear frequently. I have some floral dresses that I love from PinkBlush Maternity, but they weren’t exactly what I had in mind. I splurged and got this beautiful high-low, tie dye dress from FIllyboo Maternity. I am in love! Its linked here if you want to check it out!

Special thank you to all of my sweet friends and family that came to celebrate baby #2 (no, we still don’t have a name yet) and shower us with love and support as we await his arrival. I appreciate it all so much, and feel so blessed, grateful, and loved.
